Time to Regroup Canvas
Teams are effected by COVID-19 through a changed “outside world” and internal management interventions. Both forces have had effects on pretty much every team. To effectively regroup as a team it is important to understand and agree which parts of the team have been effected and which parts are still in tact. For this purpose I have developed a canvas to help teams have this conversation amongst themselves. Within many teams events that have had a tremendous effect on them have not been properly acknowledged. These events created pain and sorrow within teams. Events like firing of employees or stopping projects. It also has had an effect on the level of trust and loyalty within your team.

THE TIME TO REGROUP CANVAS
The Time to Regroup canvas is in fact a timeline. It consists of three main stages: Pre Crises, COVID-19 Crises and Post Crises. These are the main building blocks that will help you develop a shared narrative of all the events that have before, during and after the crises. It is crucial that the past gets acknowledged. Trying to move forward without looking back will not heal the team. On the other axis the canvas shows the eight logical levels that might have been touched by COVID-19 events and interventions. It starts with a changed environment all the way to a changed purpose. It also shows the three main stages of Team Development: Norming, Storming and Forming. So depending on the logical level that was effected due to COVID-19, the team either should start working in the Norming, Storming or Forming stage of Team Development.
HOW TO USE IT
Organize the Time and (Virtual) Space for the team to have this conversation.
Explain the Canvas at this moment
Have everybody individually spend 20 minutes with the canvas and describe for themselves the journey the team went through using the the three stages and the eight levels.
Have everybody share their individual stories.
Have a discussion and come to a shared conclusion.
Set the appropriate actions depending on the effect COVID-19 had on the team.
