Yes it hurts!
Change hurts. This COVID-19 hurts! Denying that this hurts is an early phase in the process of change.
Have a look at the Kübler Ross model on dealing with change. Probably today was a day were you felt the frustration and anger grow. The first days were ok, with a certain amount of willpower we were able to handle some changes. Yet we know this was accepting the change on a behavioral level. We changed our behavior. Yet what we were not able to do yet was changing on a deeper and profound level. Changing our perspective of 2020, changing the plans we had, changing our dreams, changing our outlook on job security or even changing our perception on how safe your loved ones are.
Let me remind you that for a long time nothing has created so much change in the world as COVID-19. We all have seen the adoption curves of new technology right? Well this has been globally adopted in a month. Where technology changed a part of life, COVID-19 changes everything: the time we spend on things, who we spend our time with and ofcourse where we spend our time.
I personally have a hard time accepting this wave of change that is passing through the world. I know that what I need to do is allow myself to pass through the various stages of change and grief. Staying silent and just be with what I feel. Yet also inside me something calls me out to act and behave and DO something about it. A hard balancing act that not a lot of us has had to deal with in their lives.
I wish everybody strength the coming weeks as probably the true effect of this change will need to be felt and accepted.
